Recovering from the holiday feast? Been too busy with the family to get to the Gym?  Then here's some food for thought:

Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) is a full body circuit workout that combines resistance training and aerobic training. Compound movements (multi-joint exercises) are performed at high intensity for a brief period (~ 1 minute) followed by a short break (10 s) between exercises.

But why is this a good way of training?  Check out some of the benefits:

  1. The short rest periods improve your cardio fitness!
  2. Don't have much time? This workout is time efficient and you will feel it more than your standard resistance training.
  3. Using more muscles and bigger muscles means more energy expended and more calories burned.
  4. In metabolic training, calories burn doesn't end when the workout ends; it can last for over 24 hours.

Summary, metabolic training builds muscle and trims fat.  Definitely something to look into!
