Achilles tendinitis, what is that?
Achilles tendinitis, what is that?
Added by Marie-Eve, July 19, 2018

As thick and strong as the tendon is, it is vulnerable to some common irritations.

An Achilles tendinitis is exactly that: an “ – itis”. It is an inflammation of the tendon because something around just isn’t doing its job.

This can be problems in:

  • Arches
  • Foot
  • Knee
  • Hip and pelvis

About 5cm above the attachment point of the Achilles tendon to the heel bone (calcaneus), there is a sweet spot whereby there is very little blood supply to help heal the tendon when it is irritated.

This can delay the healing process.

Treating the tendon needs to happen but getting evaluated to ensure that nothing else along the chain is affected is key.  Compensations are your body’s defense mechanism.  Your body is smart to avoid pain but in the process, can create pain!

Give us a call to evaluate these postural, chronic issues.  That is what we do best!

I am thrilled with my progress so far and hopeful that I will be able to participate “pain free” once again in sports that I love and stopped doing over the past 15 years. Thank you!
