Have you ever noticed how efficient children are when they run? It is effortless and efficient. This is because they innately know that using their legs AND their arms will help them get to where they have to go.
Try running with your arms in your pockets! You won’t be going very far or fast! Now let your arms out and try again! Notice a difference? You will! This is because the upper body and lower body are designed to work in concert with one another!
You will notice this with high level 100m sprinters and 10K runners as well! The main difference with these 2 groups is the distance that they cover and the pace they set for themselves.
Therefore, if you are trying to run better, more efficiently for fitness or for a particular sport, pump your arms hard, far in front of you, be in sync with your legs and you will become a faster more efficient runner!
