Planning Your Day
I had thursday all planned out. I am someone who likes to make lists, schedule everything in advance to have the most productive day.
It was my early day again at work which also means I am done earlier. I had scheduled time to workout at the studio before having to leave to pick up the kids, however Sara had a cancellation and my workout time turned into a “catch up with Sara” time instead of working out. Yes I have been known to procrastinate at times, but we all need time to unwind and chill sometimes.
I promised myself to do a workout at home with the girls, but who am I kidding, supper had to be prepared and we had to leave for swim team at 4:40 but I recruited the girls to help prepare the spanish omelette which was fun. I then had the brilliant idea to go to Terra Cotta Park for a good power walk with Olivia, my older daughter, while my younger daughter, Sofia was swimming. This fell through as well since Olivia had extra homework to finish for the next day which she wanted to do at the pool before her ballet class. I still had time to fit in some exercise later but then Sofia was tired and just wanted to sit and read with me. Once they went to bed I was done, I confess I just went to sit on the couch with a nice cup of tea and watched my two guilty pleasures, Gray's Anatomy and Parenthood and coaxed Peter to join me.
Although I did not reach my desired goals, nor did I stick to the plan of the day I had a great day at work and a great afternoon with my girls and husband. Tomorrow is a new day, a new plan. Friday went smoothly and according to schedule and I am proud to say that I reached my desired step goal, drank water and had a great workout and finished with a nice evening out with Peter.
It is important to set goals and plan your days out, however do not get discouraged when things don't quite workout as planned. Enjoy the moment and reset the following day. This was the hardest thing I learned after having kids. Just when you think you have their routine all figured out they change it on you. It used to stress me out, but now, most of the time, I try to just go with the flow and adapt to the unforeseen changes.
