No more excuses!
There is never an ideal time! All summer I kept making excuses for not working out more intensely because of my knee injury. It was the best excuse, I remained active but in reality I did the bare minimum when it came to working out. Then the cold weather came and I put on my favorite pair of jeans and they no longer fit! So I have officially made the commitment and joined our D2S challenge. To drop 2 sizes in 8 weeks. I have been faithful in trying to reach my goal of 12,000 steps per day and now I am taking time to work out and stick to the nutrition rules of no more than 4 cheats per week.
This is not always easy, I have already used up all my cheats for the week and we are only Monday evening! Thanksgiving weekend coupled with Christine and Yves' fabulous wedding I decided to indulge in the wine and desert but now determined to stay on track for the rest of the week. I believe that if we do not feel deprived but plan our cheats we do not feel we are on a diet but following a healthy lifestyle where we can still allow ourselves our little dietary weaknesses.
Working out does not always have to be in the gym either, my sisters and I decided to refrain from the traditional sit down dinner thanksgiving and opted to pack a healthy lunch and went hiking up Mont St-Hilaire with the girls. Today we stayed more local and went to Centennial park in DDO and incorporated mini obstacles at various points, from step ups to balancing to running up and down hills which made the morning fun for adults and children alike.
Let me know how you stay active and balance life with kids and work and still make time for your own health and fitness. I will keep you posted on my journey…
