FIVE reasons to do your research prior to joining a studio
Fitness training should just be a natural extension of how you felt in the summer months! With the sun shining, flowers blooming, pools flowing, and kids splashing around having fun, there is no rhyme or reason to call it quits just because the dates have changed!
As much as we try and stay active throughout the winter months, getting back on track with your training and your goals will re-create those feelings of summer joy! And if you are going to be a new gym-goer or are coming back and looking for a change, there are some simple steps to follow.
When looking for a fitness studio, there are 5 key ingredients you need in order to make your experience an amazing one:
- Credibility
- Looking through the yellow pages is not the best way of selecting a fitness studio. The same way you would entrust the care of your car, roof, house and family to a professional, the same should be true for your fitness. Ask for quality referrals and testimonials of specialists that have “been there, done that” and can get the job done properly and effectively, time and time again.

- Goal oriented
- Your goal is the bottom line but should be the FIRST thing listed on your program! When working on a fitness routine, make sure that your goals is clearly written at the top of the program so that you AND your trainer can ALWAYS see it and make each other accountable for attaining that goal!

- Knowledgeable team
- Knowledge is power but being able to APPLY that knowledge is even MORE powerful! Add experience to the mix and you have a recipe for something great in the making with less likelihood of failing! Knowing that your studio has trainers that understand why things are done as much as how they are done is crucial. Exercises should be adaptable to the need of the person and if the need arises, can be modified on the fly.

- Communication
- Knowing that your trainers are talking about you is not a bad thing! If we see anything that needs to be addressed, you bet that everyone will find out about it so there is no lack of communication! Having an open line of communication with the client’s massage therapist, or doctor is important so that everyone is on the same page.

- Knowing that the gym you are seeking has “been there-done that” successfully time and time again is key! Being able to progress and update training protocol is a great sign that the trainers are constantly looking for better ways of making you fitter!
