Aim for Progression, NOT Perfection!
Aim for Progression, NOT Perfection
Most individuals have grand ideas when starting a new workout regimen or eating plan. Whether it is unrealistic weight loss goals or being too strict with food intake, these usually lead to discouragement. It is absolutely normal to be excited for change; however it is important to set up measurable, healthy goals along the way. It is nice to have an objective in mind but it is also good to focus on more immediate, surmountable goals that you can feel good about once you’ve conquered them!
Being approximately half way through our D2S Jean Challenge, we are in the midst of retesting our participants. At the start of the challenge we tested them on our In Body machine. This gave us a print out of their weight, body fat percentage and weight distribution. We also made them give in their jeans that they are hoping to fit into at the end of the 8 weeks. We divided it this way so that they can feel encouraged when they see concrete changes by the 4th week. Instead of them continuously trying on their jeans or weighing themselves on a daily basis, perhaps persuading them to follow more strict guidelines, they have been keeping up with their 4 workouts per week and healthy eating.
We wanted to share this with you all as it can be tempting to sometimes jump-start a regimen to see quick results. These results are usually short lived however as most people cannot sustain such a lifestyle and fall back into old (unhealthy) habits. Whether it is an 8 week Jean Challenge or a 3 or 12 month membership, it is imperative that you set up reachable goals along the way to keep you motivated. Here at SPORT Specialists we specialize in goal setting and tracking. We want you to see results, but we also want you to sustain said results!
Happy Healthy Training!
