Have Questions? We’ve Got You.

We know that starting any kind of therapy or rehab program can come with a lot of questions—and we’re here to make things clearer. From understanding how Athletic Therapy works to what to expect at your first session, this FAQ section is designed to give you the answers you need to feel informed, confident, and ready to get started.

1. What is the difference between a physiotherapist and an athletic therapist?

Both professionals are trained to assess and treat musculoskeletal injuries. Physiotherapists often work in hospital settings and may treat a wider range of conditions, such as burns and post-operative care. Athletic Therapists specialize in orthopedic injuries, working both in clinic and on the field, and are known for their focus on exercise-based rehab, strength training, and return-to-activity strategies.

2. Do you accept RAMQ or other medical insurance coverage?

Yes. Some services may be covered under RAMQ depending on the provider and referral. Many of our therapists also offer services that are covered by private or group insurance plans. If you're unsure, we recommend contacting your provider or calling our clinic—we’re happy to help you understand your coverage options.

3. Is Athletic Therapy covered under my private insurance?

Yes, Athletic Therapy is covered by most private insurance plans. However, coverage depends on your specific group plan, so we always recommend confirming directly with your provider.

4. Do I need a doctor’s note or referral to book an appointment?

No referral is needed to see one of our therapists. Some clients come to us after seeing their doctor, but many book directly. If your insurance provider requires a referral for reimbursement, we can guide you through that process.

5. What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your initial session will include a detailed assessment of your injury or concern, followed by hands-on treatment and a personalized exercise plan. We’ll talk through your goals and set a clear path forward to support your recovery and performance.

6. What conditions or injuries can Athletic Therapy help with?

Athletic Therapy is highly effective for treating back and neck pain, joint injuries, muscle strains, tendonitis, concussions, and post-surgical rehab. We help with both acute injuries and chronic conditions, always tailoring care to your goals and lifestyle.

7. Will I receive a personalized exercise plan?

Absolutely. Exercise therapy is a key part of your recovery. Your therapist will design a program specifically for you—whether your goal is injury recovery, performance enhancement, or improved mobility.

8. Why is technique so important during my exercise routine?

Correct form is essential to prevent further injury and ensure the exercise is targeting the right area. Even subtle adjustments to hand or foot placement can make a big difference. That’s why we guide you step by step.

9. Do I need a lot of equipment to do my prescribed exercises?

Not at all. We tailor your program to the equipment you already have—whether that’s light weights, resistance bands, or just your body weight. Your plan will meet you where you’re at.

10. What is the Onero™ program and who is it for?

Onero™ is a research-backed strength training program designed for people with low bone density or osteoporosis. It helps improve bone strength, balance, and muscle function, and is offered by certified professionals in our clinic.

11. How long will it take to see results from Athletic Therapy?

While timelines vary, many clients notice improvements in mobility, strength, or pain reduction within just a few sessions. Your therapist will track your progress and adjust your plan along the way to help you reach your goals.

12. Can you help me prevent future injuries?

Yes. We focus not only on healing but on long-term prevention. With personalized movement assessments and exercise programming, we help you move smarter and build resilience—whether for sport, work, or daily life.

13. Is Athletic Therapy only for athletes?

Not at all. Despite the name, Athletic Therapy is for everyone. We work with people of all ages and activity levels—from athletes to office workers to older adults looking to stay strong and mobile.

14. Am I too old for Athletic Therapy?

Not at all. There’s no age limit to improving your mobility, strength, and quality of life. Athletic Therapy is highly effective for older adults and seniors—especially those managing joint pain, recovering from injury, or working on fall prevention and balance. Our therapists create customized treatment plans that meet you where you’re at and help you feel more confident in your body.
