What you need to know about your joints!
The Joint by Joint approach
Everyone realizes how complicated the human body is, yet it can be so simple at times.
This article will demonstrate that although we are capable of extreme things from fine motor control movements like threading a needle to gross motor control activities such as bungee jumping and gymnastics, we are all just a simple stacking of joints.
joint | primary need |
ankle | mobility |
knee | stabiity |
hip | mobility |
lumbar spine | stability |
thoracic spine | mobility |
scapula / shoulder blade | stability |
glenohumeral joint | mobility |
When these joints have issues or injuries to them, they will restrict the exact movement that they are supposed to have!
if you injure your ankle, it gets stiff
if you injure your knee it becomes unstable
if you injure your hip, it becomes stiff
if you injure your lumbar spine (lower back) it becomes unstable
and so on…
One thing I would like to impress upon you is that by following this joint by joint approach, an Athletic Therapist can treat that joint and restore its normal function. By the same token, a strength coach can use the joint-by-joint approach and reestablish a conditioning program, weight loss regime, or sports performance program to progress you further.
It is this that sets us apart from other gyms! Let us know how we can help you!
