We are all certified athletic therapists and we also have some therapists that are completing their osteopathic studies.

Athletic Therapy

In Canada, a certified athletic therapist (CAT(C)) is a healthcare practitioner skilled in the prevention, identification, intervention, management, and treatment of emergency, acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions and injuries to the physically active sustained either at work or through involvement in recreational or sporting activities.

A certified athletic therapist optimizes the ability of professional and amateur athletes to perform at their best through sport specific training, injury prevention and rehabilitation for rapid return to work or play.
There are three main areas of patient care and service that an Athletic Therapist may provide:

  1. Treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries for a rapid return to activity
  2. Recognition, evaluation, and emergency care of acute, urgent injuries
  3. Prevention of musculoskeletal injury through conditioning and other techniques such as prophylactic support.

Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a natural medicine which aims to restore function in the body by treating the causes of pain and imbalance. To achieve this goal the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner relies on the quality and finesse of his/her palpation and works with the position, mobility and quality of the tissues.” The osteopathic philosophy embraces the notion that the body is naturally capable of healing it- self. The practitioner of Traditional Osteopathy works with the body to enhance this natural ability to self-regulate and self-heal. The osteopath applies precise techniques of manual adjustment to restore optimal functioning to bones, muscles, fascia, nerves and organs.

Once balance has been achieved within the organism, the patient’s symptoms are relieved. Preventative as well as curative, it is suited to all age groups. Osteopathy is an excellent complement to Athletic Therapy; it offers a natural approach to help ensure all the systems of the body are working in harmony together to allow the body to heal itself.

Reconditioning

Our bodies take on a lot of stress when training, performing physical activities or playing sports. These situations will naturally create a dominance to that particular activity. Reconditioning through corrective exercises will allow the individual to rebuild their bodies to be as efficient as possible in preparation for their next bouts of training or sports.
